The basic idea behind a power question is that it is thoughtful。 The book gives ideas of what makes a thought-provoking power question。

Cathy Liu

Read for Bolt book club。 This book was more a collection of vignettes and scenarios used to illustrate the use of the “power questions。” I enjoyed how practical the book was, but it was a bit redundant, obvious, and unstructured。 To sum it up: ask open ended questions and really listen and follow up with more questions。

Helpful examples of great questions to improve conversations, particularly in the work setting

Fantastyczna pozycja pokazująca, że najczęściej dobre pytanie jest lepsze od łatwej odpowiedzi。

Great book! Lots of great questions that frame a good conversation between two people。 I think the questions presented in this book allow for deeper thoughts and deeper connections。 It reads alot like a reference。 One we can use and reuse as different situations arise。 I know I will be keeping close and refer to it before meetings and discussions with clients and teammates。Gold:1-“I have no special talents。 I am only passionately curious。”2-“What would you like to know about us?” When someone as Great book! Treat your spouse or partner like a newlywed。 Treat old clients like brand new ones。 Greet a friend as if you haven't seen him in a year。 Use this simple question—what are your dreams?—to show you care and to help reconnect people to their greatest longings。8-We should have remembered Helmut Von Moltke's warning, “No battle plan survives contact with the enemy。”9-“What parts of your job do you wish you could spend more time on, and what things do you wish you could do less of?”10-“If you had to write your obituary today, what would you like it to say about you and your life?”11-“What decisions do we need to make today?” After every meeting, ask: “What have we decided today?”12-Peter Drucker's five questions about Mission, People, Value, Expectations, and a Plan。13-“What's the most important thing we should be discussing today?”14-I tell them that a friend is someone who knows the song of your soul and sings it back to you when you've forgotten the words。 Who are those friends and why aren't you seeing more of them now? How would you change your life?15-‘What difference will your footsteps make a hundred years from now?’” 。。。more

Too much flood in the examples, but still a useful manual for all those responsible for closing the new businesses and conducting interviews with prospective clients。

If you're in sales, fundraising, mentoring。。。any kind of relationship business, you should have this on your shelf。 It's great when you're struggling with how to approach someone or how to word things。 It's definitely helped me get to know people better (and raise more money。) Only three stars because I probably could have done without most of the stories but it's a super resource。 If you're in sales, fundraising, mentoring。。。any kind of relationship business, you should have this on your shelf。 It's great when you're struggling with how to approach someone or how to word things。 It's definitely helped me get to know people better (and raise more money。) Only three stars because I probably could have done without most of the stories but it's a super resource。 。。。more

Definitely worth the read。 Sometimes its the books with the simpliest message that makes the biggest impact。 Im currently going through a major change because of covid 19。 After reading this book and relearning to ask questions, and the tight questions has not only built better relationships with people, but its helping me with the direction of life i want to go。 He takes different questions and relates it to stories。 Its interesting and kept my attention。 Well written in my opinion。

This is a great quick primer with useful questions for anyone whose work involves engagement or anyone who wants to develop relationships。 It is not overwhelmingly deep, but it is worth 3-4 hours of reading。 I tested some in a conversation today and I was pleased with the outcome。

Fast read and good advice。 Perhaps we all have heard the advise before, but great reminders。 Several of the questions I use in upcoming meeings。

I rate 3 stars because some questions have the same reason。 Anyways, this book is good enough for a new one, who don't know how to start a conversation or don't know how to recognize a problem。 After all, ask more why, listen more, and less speak。 I rate 3 stars because some questions have the same reason。 Anyways, this book is good enough for a new one, who don't know how to start a conversation or don't know how to recognize a problem。 After all, ask more why, listen more, and less speak。 。。。more

It is made obviously about the power of questions in the bookSometimes people ask for advice, what we need to do is finding an appropriate question and let them see their own answers, that is the best advice you could give; and even for yourself, if you can't figure out something at some time, just find the right question for yourself to find the right answer。Actually, the question lists on the book are quite obvious and some insipid, but the author has put very much effort to show us the helpfu It is made obviously about the power of questions in the bookSometimes people ask for advice, what we need to do is finding an appropriate question and let them see their own answers, that is the best advice you could give; and even for yourself, if you can't figure out something at some time, just find the right question for yourself to find the right answer。Actually, the question lists on the book are quite obvious and some insipid, but the author has put very much effort to show us the helpful effect of questions。"Choose right questions at right time for right people。"Indeed, in reality, no question-dictionary can cover the real movement, but the book is still very helpful and thoughtful in the way the questions shown in some detailed situations。 。。。more

I think this book is a good & quick read。 The book explains power questions & psychology behind them。 I liked the practical relatable examples used to illustrate impact of each question。

This book reminds me of searching for a recipe online。 In the old days you look up a recipe and make it - now a days you have to scroll through paragraphs and paragraphs of personal reflections, stories and metaphors。 This is a book that could have been a blog post。 Most of the questions were common and the stories unhelpful。 The list of questions at the back is really the only redeeming quality。
